Dr Dan Anderson

I am registered, licensed and in good-standing with the General Medical Council and on the specialist register as a consultant psychiatrist. I am also a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

I have worked in mental health since 2003 and am experienced in old age psychiatry, adult psychiatry and medical psychotherapy. I trained initially as an old age psychiatrist and have held NHS and independent sector positions as a consultant working with adults of all ages. I also held the position of medical director for The Retreat in York for 3 years during which time the Care Quality Commission rated the services as ‘Good’. In 2020, I was recognised as a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

I have trained as a group analyst and as a psychodynamic psychotherapist. I am a member of the Institute of Group Analysis (a member organisation of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and the Association of Medical Psychodynamic Psychotherapists (a member organisation of the British Psychoanalytic Council). I am fully up-to-date with the continuing professional development and supervisory requirements of the British Psychoanalytic Council and the Institute of Group Analysis (a member organisation of the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy).
