Specialist Areas

I work in a tailored way for every person, always informed by psychological theory, research evidence and best practice.  This can include understanding neurodiversity alongside personal meanings.

Therapeutic Model

I work across a range of therapeutic models. In additional to doctorate level training in psychological theory, I have qualifications in groupwork, EMDR and supervision. I largely work thinking about relationships and sense of self. Currently I specialise in assessments for autism and research into emotions.

In My Own Words

I thoroughly enjoy both academic and clinical approaches to working with people with neurodevelopmental disorders. If the people we work for are genuinely considered first, that makes clinical and research work meaningful. That is why I like working at The Retreat. I am also hugely grateful for the high calibre of colleagues I share time with, across a wide range of roles and backgrounds. Being independent as an organisation often means we can think differently and influence our service designs, such as making sure we have experts by experience alongside us in our decision making.

Alongside clinical practice I am proud to work at the University of York as an Associate Lecturer within the Department of Psychology.
My current research interests include how emotion is experienced and communicated by people with autism.
