Integrative Therapy

What is Integrative Therapy?

Integrative therapy draws upon different and complementary therapeutic approaches with shared underlying philosophies. Therapy is tailored to you and your presenting difficulties.

Integrative therapy is based on the concept that a skilled understanding of psychological therapy across a range of models means that therapy can be flexibly tailored to each person. It does not follow a set program, such as a therapy that has been designed for a particular mental health diagnosis.

What can I expect?

  • Ways of working can be more directive and structured, such as focussing on making sense of a specific difficulty in the here and now, developing skills for coping differently and alleviating distress
  • Therapy models might include solution-focused or positive psychology theories.
  • Ways of working can also be more exploratory, and draw upon theories of emotion, suffering and sense of self.
  • The number of sessions required depends on the issues presented.

At The Retreat, we offer psychotherapy across a wide range of modalities, and with therapists with different specialisms. We will always think with you about your expectations and preferences.
