Child and Adolescent Therapist
I am a registered Child and Adolescent Therapist and Social Worker (Social Work England), trained in Play Therapy (BAPT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Filial Therapy (Family Enhancement Centre)
In My Own Words
I have worked therapeutically, with children and families since 2001, providing therapeutic assessments, individual and group therapy, consultation and training in a range of settings.
My approach is client centred, informed by psychodynamic thinking, drawing upon my experience and research in trauma and mental health.
My area of specialism is work with families, carers and other professionals to enable a improved understanding of the needs of children and young people who have experienced trauma; have attachment difficulties; mental health problems or developmental disorders.
I have years of experience of working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS) and education, including main stream and specialist provision.
I have worked in independent practice since 2009, working with families in the community and have extensive experience in post-adoption therapeutic support.
I have been until recently been the Editor for the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT) magazine and remain involved with the BAPT PR and Comms Sub- Committee.
